Proto-Toys is a series of oil paintings explore the perceptual logic, object aesthetics, and material tenderness embedded in toys and toy-like forms. The series approaches toys as early epistemological instruments: objects through which a child first encounters scale, weight, colour, form, and the presence of the “other” through sensation rather than language.
